The 2019 Chardonnay was bottled in August 2020.
It shows the typical golden hue of an unfiltered, unfined Apsley Gorge chardonnay.
The nose is a little more austere than the 2018, but still with that rich, ripe, clean East Coast fruit.
This is a very structured wine. Tightening the fruit is firm acidity which has more in common with Puligny than Meursault. Also the oak is a new cooper for Apsley Gorge. Allier Centre de France. Yann Charlopin recommended these barrels for their subtlety and finesse with Chardonnay.
This wine will develop all the richness of a typical Apsley Chardonnay with that structure making it excellent with food.
Tassie crayfish are cheap right now. A perfect match, made in Heaven.
